Due to climate change, the weather has become even harder to predict and in some cases, severe, impacting our daily lives and health. Centered around the UN Sustainable Development Goals 3 and 13, CMate is a weather app that helps users prepare for their day based their health concerns. The app takes into account each user’s health profile and concerns, alongside their current location and climate, in order to generate a list of personalised weather and health related tips. Additionally, its home screen widget will update frequently throughout the day to remind users of how to best adapt to their current location and climate, without having to open the app.
The app has been designed to be educational and friendly, unlike most weather apps, with its golden retriever mascot named, Clyde and bright interface. Its interactive widgets encourage users to learn more about specific weather statistics and their climate, in order to be more aware of our changing world, and how that may affect their health.
CMate’s prototype was created in Figma, during my Study Abroad in Japan in June 2023. A walkthrough video can be found below. For the full presentation explaining the inspiration behind the app, please click here.
