Centered around a little Pika who is insecure about her size, Dream Big, Pika, is a children’s picture book I wrote and illustrated, inspired by my own experiences growing up as the shortest kid in school. While Pika doesn’t think she’s as important as her other creature friends because of her small size, she unexpectedly becomes a hero she’s the first to spot some critical danger that’s about to destroy their forest home, thanks to her Pika senses and characteristics.
Dream Big, Pika is a reminder to myself, kids and even adults that you are special just the way you are. You matter and have many different strengths and talents that make you like no one else in this world. With this book, I hope that kids will feel more confident in themselves and their bodies.
