XO Public Floor Installation
I participated in Pratt Institute’s “Foundation Year: Expanded” competition in 2021 for their XO Public Floor Installation. I submitted a pair of XOs, inspired by nature due to the history of the installation site, Myrtle Ave. I was interested in recreating the letters ‘X’ and ‘O’ using organic lines and the natural forms of a tree, its trunk, branches and leaves. Being in the city means that there is a lack of nature and organic forms because of all the rectilinear buildings that surround us. Therefore, I wanted to transport the viewer to a forest with my designs and ask them to “branch out” from the city and appreciate the beauty of mother nature that we do not get to see often.

My work, along with eleven others’, was chosen to be displayed on Myrtle Ave. Each piece was printed out to be 5ftx5ft large and they were arranged and curated by the Foundation Year Expanded Faculty Team. Due to the pandemic, the work was only displayed in April 2022.
